Part 1:
I think this was my most successful photo because I was able to mimic Lee Friedlander's style while still capturing my own unique image. When I first saw Friedlander’s photo of the inside of his car, featuring the rearview mirror, I thought it was such a creative and interesting concept to recreate. I liked how I was able to match the fence from his original photo, it added a strong visual connection between our images. The most challenging part of the assignment was trying to make my photo closely resemble the original while still adding my twist. I didn’t want to simply copy Lee’s work, I wanted to reinterpret it in a way that felt authentic to me. Moving forward, I plan to create stronger images by studying the work of other photographers and drawing inspiration from their use of lighting, composition, and subject matter.

Hi Emily,
I love the way you recreated your photo. You did a great job of staying true to the original while also adding your unique touch. I admired how closely you paid attention to the pose and expression, it made the recreation feel both accurate and personal. You did an amazing job on the assignment!
